AlbanyNYPPE was founded during the 2020 COVID19 pandemic as a NYS not-for-profit corporation devoted to the design and production of 3D printed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). We are proud to deliver PPE at no cost to any organization in need. All PPE are printed in our print lab and assembled on site before distribution. Production total: 12,636 as of 4/05/2021.
ALBANYNYPPE AT A GLANCE
The COVID-19 pandemic has shown how severe PPE shortages are at every level of society. In addition, the high transmission potential of COVID-19 requires rethinking of the use of PPE in previously "everyday" situations. AlbanyNYPPE has made it a mission to help medical workers, schools, homeless shelters, food banks, and many others with free, open source, PPE designs and/or delivery of 3D printed PPE.
WHAT WE DO
3D PRINTED FACESHIELDS
The Swedish design firm 3DVerkstan has arguably created the most popular 3D printed face shield. Approved by the National Institutes of Health for emergency PPE production, this inexpensive, effective, and quick printed design has helped fill the void in the global PPE shortage experienced during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
EQUIPMENT SPECIFIC PPE DESIGN
With an emphasis in specialty PPE designs for primary care, ophthalmology, optometry, and opticianry, AlbanyNYPPE works to create equipment specific PPE to help keep our physicians and allied health care personnel safer while carrying out their duties.
PARTNERSHIPS / OUTREACH
With generous order and delivery logistics support from the Schenectady East, NY chapter of Rotary International, AlbanyNYPPE has donated to dozens of groups across the Capital Region, Upstate NY, Central NY, Downstate NY, New York City, Florida, and Haiti.
FOLDING@HOME
Thanks in part to a generous donation from Mabel MP Cheng MD PLLC our computational abilities have been improved to allow idle CPU time to go towards Stanford University's COVID-19 Folding@Home experiments. These computer protein folding simulations help give virologists greater insight into COVID19.
